Farbatoy is a highly glossy, opaque ink, with excellent mechanical and physical resistance, physically quick drying property and it can be used as 1-2 component inks. It is suitable for printing on toys,feeding bottles and childcare products. A popular term called mouthing is a common practice that infants and toddlers follow. In order to explore their environment and surroundings, they put everything into their mouths. Mouthing on toys is known to develop oral motor skills in babies. Hence, toys, feeding bottles and other childrens’ products in use must be safe, tested, complaint and verified to minimize the potential risk of chemical poisoning and choking hazards. At the same time the toys must be colourful, attractive,beautiful, engaging and appealing for a child to be excited about . Therefore, to meet all these requirements, very stringent norms and regulations exist to ensure the manufacturing of safe toys in the toy component printing sector.
Hence, selecting an ink for such products must be done with great care and caution.. For baby products, the colours, inks and paints used in toy part printing must not contain toxic or allergenic dyestuffs, toxic solvents, formaldehyde or APEO, they must be free of heavy metals in line with DIN EN 71, part 3, and other restricted chemicals and plastics, which can go into a child’s mouth when playing with it.
